ABSTRACT

Target delineation is the key and difficult point in radiation oncology teaching. Combined with the teaching experience in department of cancer radio-chemotherapy, Zhongnan hospital of Wuhan university, this study focused on target delineation to explore the teaching mode and method of radiation oncology. Self-directed learning was combined with teacher's lecturing and guiding. By enhancing tumor imaging teaching and basic theory of tumor radiotherapy, students can grasp the essence and detail of target delineation and build individualized and precise radiotherapy. Finally, a new teaching mode combining students' autonomous learning with teachers' teaching and guide is established. Taking the radiation therapy of breast cancer as an example, We briefly described the concrete application of this teaching system.

ABSTRACT

The accurate diagnosis and precise prediction of tumor radiation sensitivity and normal tissue radiation-induced injury are the preconditions of precise radiotherapy for lung cancer.Radiomics is defined as a set of milestone, assistive tools in the develop-ment of precise treatment for lung cancer, which can extract many quantitative features from medical images by applying automatic or semi-automatic methods and determine the deep relationship between clinical diagnosis and treatment data. Thus, the occurrence, development, and clinical outcome of lung cancer may be revealed.Radiomics holds immense potential in the classification of benign and malignant lung nodules, prediction of lung cancer genetic phenotypes, and treatment response to radiation therapy, because it can obtain information regarding the global heterogeneity of tumors via a noninvasive approach. In the present review,we summarize the latest process of CT-based radiomics in precise radiotherapy for lung cancer.

ABSTRACT

Radiotherapy is one of the most important treatment method for head and neck cancer. The intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) has better conformal property and uniformity.IMRT is gradually replacing conventional radiation therapy and has become the mainstream radical treatment for head and neck cancer.During IMRT,the patient treatment positioning,inter-treatment,and intra-treatment variation of organ position, size, and shape impact the accuracy of radiation dose delivery. This method may cause target less and (or) additional complications.Adaptive radiotherapy (ART) is a new radiotherapy technology.Based on the patient's pre-treatment images and relative information such as dose deviation,ART can able to compensate the target coverage and clinical outcome.Under the help of ART technique, radiotherapy can be more accurate and more personalized. This paper reviews the research status of ART technology in head and neck cancerby retrospective studying the related literature at home and abroad.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the role of self-made auxiliary device in pelvic tumor radiotherapy with phantom immobilization using Varian cone-beam CT (CBCT).Methods A total of 50 patients with pelvic tumor were enrolled and randomly divided into study group and control group according to the order of enrollment. The patients in the study group were immobilized with thermoplastic phantom and self-made auxiliary device, and those in the control group were immobilized with thermoplastic phantom.CBCT scan and online matching were regularly performed before radiotherapy to obtain the setup errors of the left-right (x),cranial-caudal (y),and anterior-posterior (z) directions. The independent-samples t-test was used for comparison between groups. Results The set-up errors in the x-,y-,and z-directions in the study group were 1.56± 1.00 mm,1.60± 1.29 mm,and 1.36± 1.00 mm,respectively, and those in the control group were 1.76±1.33 mm,2.76±1.69 mm,and 1.92±0.91 mm,respectively (P=0.551,0.009,and 0.043).Conclusions Self-made auxiliary device helps to eliminate the errors in the cranial-caudal direction and solve the problem of involuntary activities of the lower limbs.

ABSTRACT

Objective:According to the tumor of children psychology, explore a set of suitable for children accurate tumor radiotherapy positioning method, in order to improve the positioning accuracy, thus improve the tumor clinical cure rate. Methods: 1.Eliminate fear; 2.Adaptability training; 3.The methods of psychological suggestion. Evaluation method: take psychological induction of radiation induced by radiation therapy in children with and without taking mental children from the placement time, downtime in drug utilization rate, treatment rate and bit error rate comparison. Results: There is obvious difference between two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion: radiotherapy positioning of children with psychological intervention in the method, can improve the treatment of children's compliance.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the clinical value and existing problems of the fixation technology of negative pressure vacuum bag in tumor precise radiotherapy. Methods The fixation technology of vacuum bag was utilized. The relations between the vacuum-bag and the body were marked by laser beam. The corresponding parts in the patient were linked with vacuum-bag by marks for the repetition of patient's body posture. The confirmation method was used to compare the target areas measured by radiation field scale before and after the body position projection. Results The repeatability errors of patient's body posture was not more than 2 mm.The position error at 0? was not more than 2 mm.The average error between the light depth of the suitable shape under the simulator to the treatment plan was 2-3mm.Conclusion It is indicated that in the development of tumor precise radiotherapy process, errors are obviously reduced by using the vacuum air cushion to fix body posture. This method should be applied widely for its high clinical value.
